Name numerology
Name numerology gives each letter a number and reads the total. This tool works out your name number in the Chaldean and Pythagorean systems, compares it with your birth number and destiny number, and suggests spelling adjustments that bring them into agreement if you want one.
The Chaldean method, the one most used in India, gives letters values from one to eight: A, I, J, Q and Y are 1; B, K and R are 2; C, G, L and S are 3; D, M and T are 4; E, H, N and X are 5; U, V and W are 6; O and Z are 7; F and P are 8. The number 9 is not assigned to any letter, because it is held sacred. The total is reduced to a single digit, while the compound number before reduction is also read.
Your birth number is the day of the month you were born, reduced to one digit; someone born on the 23rd has birth number 5. Your destiny number is the whole birth date added and reduced. The name number is read alongside both.
In Indian numerology each number is ruled by a planet: 1 the Sun, 2 the Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars. Numbers whose planets are friends, such as 1 and 3, sit well together; numbers whose planets are hostile can create friction.
Some people add or double a letter to bring the name number into harmony with the birth number. The tool lists such variants and their totals. Any change is a personal choice; many people keep their name and simply understand it better.
The same method can be used for a shop or company name. Owners often look for a total that agrees with their own birth number and avoids the compound numbers traditionally seen as difficult.
The result gives the number, its planet, the qualities it is linked with, and a note on how it sits with your birth and destiny numbers.
